FAQs
Frequently asked questions about our spa services.

What are the benefits of skin treatments?
A facial increases circulation, detoxifies, and stimulates the skin. Your skin's needs are constantly changing, and with the guidance of a licensed professional, you can achieve your healthiest skin. To maintain the results of your treatment, you must be diligent with your home care regimen, like cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing and protecting. It is of utmost importance to wear sunscreen every day, rain or shine. You will leave your appointment not only feeling refreshed and revitalized, but equipped with the knowledge of how to take care of your skin. Facials are recommended every 4-6 weeks.

You must discontinue use for at least one week prior to waxing. Please read the label carefully and consult your Aesthetician if you are taking any medication or using any topical cream that contains the medications listed below:

- Alustra
- Avage
- Avita

Thin, sensitive skin is more vulnerable to lifting and sensitivity during waxing. If you are currently using any of the following, please inform Sparkle Spa before your waxing session. These products can make the skin more sensitive:
- Bleaching agents for hair (used mostly for upper lip)
- Bleaching agents for pigmentation of skin (Hydraquinone, Trilumena)
- Previous chemical depilatories, such as Nair
- Benzoyl peroxide
- Alpha hydroxy acids (Glycolic, Lactic)

Women may experience extra sensitivity to waxing up to a week prior to the beginning of their menstrual cycle. Taking an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory one hour prior to your appointment will help minimize any redness or inflammation. If irritation should occur, we recommend you use an antibiotic ointment (such as Neosporin) to keep the area continually moist to avoid infection and scabbing.
- Sunburned, irritated or areas with open skin cannot be waxed.
- Moles cannot be waxed.
- You must wait a minimum of seven days before waxing after a light chemical peel or microdermabrasion treatment.
- Waxing cannot be performed if you have had laser skin resurfacing within the past year.
- You must wait a minimum of 72 hours after a Botox treatment.
- Please avoid sun exposure for 24 hours before and after a waxing treatment.
- No hot baths for 24 hours following a body waxing treatment.
- No abrasives/body scrubs for 24 hours following a waxing treatment.

What is LED Light Therapy?
LED (Light Emitting Diode) Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses specific colors of light to activate your skin’s natural healing processes. It works by stimulating the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate)—the energy source for your skin cells—which boosts cellular repair and regeneration. This leads to increased collagen production, reduced inflammation, and a clearer, more even complexion.
Different colors of LED light are used to target specific concerns:
Red Light penetrates deeper into the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production, making it ideal for fine lines, wrinkles, and overall skin rejuvenation.
Blue Light targets acne by eliminating acne-causing bacteria below the skin’s surface, helping to calm active breakouts and prevent future ones.
By working at the cellular level, LED Light Therapy improves skin tone, texture, and overall health—without any discomfort or downtime. This painless treatment is safe for all skin types and tones, and effective for acne, aging, and inflammation.
-
Are there any contraindications to LED Light Therapy?
LED may be a local or general contraindication for certain conditions including pregnancy, epilepsy, malignancy, light-sensitizing or steroid-based medications, and open wounds. If you are unsure whether this treatment is right for you, please consult with your esthetician prior to booking.
